Aria Vandermere
Early Life
Aria Vandermere was born in Prosperity 2186. She is an energetic kid who loves colorful things, except for the color orange, which she hates. Her favorite stuffed animal is Mr. Squiggles, a well-loved stuffed bear that she had scribbled on in colorful marker.

She loves spending time with her brother, though Eris does not typically reciprocate. She looks up to him. On many occasions, she has asked Eris to teach her to play lacrosse, because she wants to follow in his footsteps. She looks up to him.

When she grows up, she wants to be an explorer. Her dream is to be the first person to discover treasure from the Era of Fire. None of her family has the heart to inform her it has already been done.

Great Flood
Aria boards the fishing boat with Eris. While Eris grieves his parents’ death, Aria takes longer to register what had happened. Anders Chase eventually pulls her aside to tell her the news.

Aria grows increasingly quieter and more withdrawn the longer she lives on the boat, especially so after Anders’s murder.
Death
Eris decides it most merciful to drown her while she sleeps. She awakens to the sensation of her skin touching the water. She struggles against his grip but is not strong enough to break free. She drowns.
